Ian Rae has joined the Group as our new Sales Manager, covering Moray and the Highlands. Ian has a wealth of experience in the construction materials sector, starting life as a concrete technician over 30 years ago.

More recently, Ian has worked for Morrisons and Tarmac, and his commercial experience will be invaluable to the expansion of the business and the launch of our new quarry at Kishorn.

Outside work, Ian enjoys curling, sailing and motorcycling.

SURFACING DIRECTOR

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Lund to the post of Surfacing Director for the Company.

Brian has a wealth of experience in the Industry, and was latterly Regional Manager with responsibility for expanding our Surfacing business in the Central Belt.

Brian takes on this role at a busy time for us, and he will play an important part in the continued expansion of the Group.

New Chief Executive for the Leiths Group

Simon Russell has joined the Leiths Group as their first Chief Executive from the beginning of the year.

Simon, a qualified mining geologist, was previously the Group Chief Executive for the Brett Group, based in Canterbury, Kent and joins Leiths at an exciting stage in its development.

He comes with 35years experience in the industry, including 18 years with ARC in a number of operational and senior management roles. In 1990, following the takeover of ARC, he joined Hanson and established a waste management company; moved on to be Commercial Director for southern England and prior to joining Brett in 1997, was Managing Director for their marine aggregates dredging business.

As Group Chief Executive at Brett, he assisted with the expansion of the Group into the largest independent construction materials company in the UK with a turnover of circa £200m.

Simon comments “My industry experience is a good match to the future requirements of the Leiths Group. Leiths has grown significantly in recent years, and Ian Leith, the Chairman, recognises that the business needs more executive support to take it forward. There are tremendous opportunities to grow the company, both organically and by acquisition and I look forward to assisting the Leiths Team with their business strategies”

Simon will be moving into the Aberdeen area with his wife Anne, and they look forward to exploring the beautiful countryside with their three dogs and sharing in the Scottish culture.
